Pacific West Champs Crowned: Spokane River Rats
Monday, August 4th, 1997
The Spokane River Rats are champions of the Pacific West, but don't plan the parade quite yet.
"It's a nice accomplishment, but we haven't done anything until we win the World Series," said reliever Matt Whisenant. "We're going to celebrate this for sure, but the real celebration is still to come for fans in Spokane."
The club's record currently sits at 73-42. It is the team's 1st division title and they will be seeking the franchise's 1st Hugg Baseball League championship.
The team manager said they will take some time to celebrate the division title, but then it's "back to work" for members of the team and coaching staff.
