Pitcher of the Year Award Goes to Savannah Hurler Sunday, September 21st, 1997 It was as good as money in the bank when John Wasdin took the hill for Savannah. He paid his club back with interest this season with a superb 11-7 mark, collecting the Atlantic Pitcher of the Year Award for 1997. The Swamp Foxes star delighted the hometown fans with a fine 3.21 ERA and 111 strikeouts in 146 innings. Wasdin surrendered 136 hits and 23 walks and limited opposing batters to a .240 batting average. He received 17 first place votes out of a possible 24. Shawn Boskie of the Buffalo Bisons finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while Jason Dickson of the Savannah Swamp Foxes finished third with 1 first place vote.
