Lawton Put in Cooler, Hitless Against Asheville
Sunday, May 14th, 1995
The hitting streak that Buffalo right fielder Matt Lawton had kept going for 22 games was ended today by the Asheville Moonshiners. Lawton was stymied over 6 at-bats today, but the rest of his team picked him up, taking the 5-3 victory at Torrance Grounds.
"Hitting streaks come and go," Lawton said. "It did put a little pressure on me. It's hard to be natural at the plate with something like that always in the back of your mind. If it had to end, I'm glad it was in a win."
Lawton is hitting .319 so far this season with 27 RBIs and 40 runs scored. He has 59 hits including 3 home runs, 23 walks and .396 OBP.
