Pitcher of the Year Award Winner Announced Sunday, September 21st, 1997
The spotlight today is on David Cone of the Naperville Lazy Fisherman. He was named the top pitcher in the Pacific and will be honored with the 1997 Pitcher of the Year Award.
Cone compiled an impressive 10-6 won-lost mark to capture this year's honor. In 168 innings of work and 30 starts, the Lazy Fisherman star struck out 144, while giving up 154 hits and 48 walks. He limited opposing batters to a .239 average.
