Hit Streak Now at 20 for Smith Saturday, July 8th, 1995 Chalk up another one for Savannah Swamp Foxes left fielder Mark E Smith. He now has hit in 20 straight games. Smith went 1-for-4 today's game at Aspinwall Grounds but saw his club defeated 3-2 by the host Buffalo Bisons. "Playing on the road always makes it harder to get hits and to get wins," Swamp Foxes manager said after the game. "We got one of the two, but unfortunately it was the wrong one." Mark E Smith hit a two-run home run off Jeff Suppan in the 1st, grounded out in the 4th, struck out in the 6th and flied out in the 9th. Smith is presently batting .312 with 9 home runs, 37 runs scored and 37 RBIs. His OBP is .406. |
