Star of the Week Picked in ATL Monday, July 31st, 1995 So far in his young career, Oreste Marrero has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the Atlantic in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts. The 25-year-old Asheville Moonshiners first baseman hit at a torrid .536 clip as he collected 15 hits in 28 at-bats, 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and 11 runs scored. In 113 games this season Marrero has compiled a .366 batting average with 168 hits and 17 home runs. He has also scored 93 times and knocked in 78 runs. |
