The Hugg Baseball League today announced the official playoff field for the 1996 postseason, marking the conclusion of an exciting regular season across both the Atlantic and Pacific circuits. Eight teams have earned the right to compete for the HBL Championship, with Division Series play set to begin on August 14, 1996.
Atlantic Conference
- Atlantic Northeast Division Champion: Buffalo Bison
- Atlantic Southeast Division Champion: Savannah Swamp Foxes
- Wild Card Qualifiers: Asheville Moonshiners, Southeast Slammers
The Atlantic Division Series matchups are as follows:
- Southeast Slammers vs. Savannah Swamp Foxes
- Asheville Moonshiners vs. Buffalo Bison
Pacific Conference
- Pacific Central Division Champion: Nashville Sounds
- Pacific West Division Champion: Naperville Lazy Fisherman
- Wild Card Qualifiers: Round Rock Express, Portland Stag
The Pacific Division Series matchups are as follows:
- Portland Stag vs. Naperville Lazy Fisherman
- Round Rock Express vs. Nashville Sounds
Each Division Series will be a best-of-five matchup, with winners advancing to their respective Conference Championship Series. The two conference champions will meet in the 1996 HBL Championship Series to determine this season’s champion.
