The Doubleday Baseball League celebrates a rare milestone double, as two veteran sluggers—Ellis Burks of the Toronto Blue Jays and Kevin McReynolds of the Chicago White Sox—each launched the 300th home run of their careers on the same day, April 13, 1996.

Ellis Burks, 31, has long been one of the league’s most complete outfielders, blending power, speed, and run production. Debuting with Toronto in 1987, Burks quickly established himself as a cornerstone bat, later making an impact in Florida before returning to Toronto. His consistent power stroke has produced 303 home runs and 904 RBIs to date, along with nearly 1,500 career hits. Burks’ achievement marks another highlight in a career defined by reliability and thunder in the middle of the order.

Kevin McReynolds, 36, has been a fixture in DBL lineups since 1983. First breaking through with the Los Angeles Dodgers, he later became a steady run producer in Cincinnati before finding new life in Chicago. Known for his balanced blend of power and gap-hitting ability, McReynolds’ 300th homer adds to a career résumé that now includes 1,766 hits, 1,044 RBIs, and 963 runs scored across more than 1,700 games played. His recent resurgence with the Cubs has only underscored his longevity and ability to rise to the occasion.

To have two established veterans reach the same prestigious milestone on the same day is a remarkable chapter in league history. Both Burks and McReynolds now join the exclusive ranks of the DBL’s 300-Home-Run Club, a testament to their sustained excellence and impact on the game.

Congratulations to Ellis Burks and Kevin McReynolds on their 300th career home runs.
