To ensure the Doubleday Baseball League continues to operate smoothly, competitively, and fairly for all participants, we are outlining a clear set of expectations for all owners. These guidelines are designed to support consistent engagement while respecting that everyone has varying time commitments.
⚾ In-Season Expectations
During the regular season, we ask that each owner logs in at least once per week to stay up to date on team matters. Weekly check-ins should include:
- Ensuring your roster is compliant and up to date
- Addressing injuries and making appropriate lineup or roster moves
- Responding to trade offers and league communications in a timely fashion
Your ongoing engagement is critical to maintaining a competitive balance and ensuring the league remains active and enjoyable for all.
🛠️ Offseason Expectations
The offseason brings a higher volume of activity and critical decisions. Owners are expected to participate in:
- Awards and Hall of Fame voting
- Re-sign periods and contract decisions
- Free agency and bid submissions
- The Amateur Draft
- Roster construction and spring training preparation
We recognize that life happens and time can be limited. We will always do our best to provide ample time for each step of the offseason. However, owners are expected to be more involved during this stretch.
Whenever possible, we want decisions to come from you, not from the commissioner or deputy commissioner. This ensures all choices reflect your intent and keeps us from making assumptions on your behalf.
If you know you’ll be unavailable for any period, please communicate with league leadership—we’re happy to work with you. Communication is all we ask.
📋 Acknowledgment Required
In the coming days, each team will be asked to acknowledge that they have read and understand the owner expectations. This will take the form of a brief Google Form that will be posted directly to each team’s individual channel. Owners will have 10 days to complete this acknowledgment.
Going forward, this will become a standard part of off-season league operations—ensuring every team affirms their understanding and agreement with the expectations set forth.
Let’s continue making this league great—together.
