The Doubleday Baseball League is proud to announce its Players of the Week for the period ending Sunday, April 7th. Two standout performers rose above the competition, delivering unforgettable performances for their clubs.
- Federal League – Scott Bullett, New York Yankees
- United League – John Olerud, Oakland Athletics
In the Federal League, Scott Bullett of the New York Yankees made an immediate impact in his debut season. The 27-year-old outfielder punished opposing pitchers with a scorching .611 batting average, recording 11 hits in 18 at-bats, including 2 home runs and 7 RBIs. His explosive week not only earned him the Federal League Player of the Week Award but also sent a clear message that he’s a force to be reckoned with in 1996.
Meanwhile, in the United League, John Olerud of the Oakland Athletics showcased his trademark patience and power at the plate. The 27-year-old first baseman hit .417 for the week, collecting 10 hits in 24 at-bats, highlighted by 4 home runs and 9 RBIs over the course of six games. His efforts were rewarded with the United League Player of the Week Award.
Both Bullett and Olerud turned in performances that electrified fans and fueled their teams’ early-season momentum. With the season still young, the league eagerly anticipates what these two standouts will accomplish next.
