The Doubleday Baseball League is proud to announce the Players of the Week for the period ending June 30, 1996.

United League – Ray Durham (Washington Senators)
Washington’s young second baseman Ray Durham broke out in a big way, earning United League Player of the Week honors. The 24-year-old hit an impressive .480 (12-for-25) with 1 home run, 3 RBIs, and 6 runs scored to spark the Senators’ offense. For the season, Durham is batting .281 with 8 home runs, 33 RBIs, and 49 runs scored across 77 games.

Federal League – Darryl Strawberry (Cleveland Spiders)
Cleveland’s Darryl Strawberry continued to show his veteran power, taking home Federal League Player of the Week recognition. The 34-year-old outfielder batted .320 (8-for-25) while blasting 6 home runs and driving in 10 runs over 7 games. On the year, Strawberry has already launched 29 home runs while carrying a .242 batting average.

These standout performances highlight both the emerging talent and seasoned power that make the DBL must-watch baseball.
