The Doubleday Baseball League is proud to announce the Players of the Week for the period ending June 23, 1996.
United League – Glenn Davis (Colorado Rockies)
Veteran first baseman Glenn Davis showed he can still deliver at the highest level, earning United League Player of the Week honors. The 35-year-old slugged .417 (10-for-24) with 5 home runs, 9 RBIs, and 9 runs scored across the week. For the season, Davis is batting .275 with 22 home runs, continuing to anchor Colorado’s lineup.
Federal League – Mike Mussina (Cincinnati Reds)
Cincinnati ace Mike Mussina dominated opposing hitters to capture Federal League Player of the Week recognition. The 27-year-old right-hander went 2–0 with 17 innings of scoreless baseball, striking out 16 and issuing just 4 walks. On the season, Mussina owns an 8–4 record with a 3.21 ERA, 104 strikeouts, and 30 walks across 112 innings.
These standout performances highlight the mix of power and pitching excellence across both leagues.
