he leagues have announced their Players of the Week, recognizing two power-packed performances that stood out across the United and Federal Leagues.
In the United League, one of the game’s most exciting young talents took center stage. Cliff Floyd of the New York Mets earned United League Player of the Week honors after a dominant week at the plate. The 24-year-old left fielder hit .387 (12-for-31), blasting 3 home runs, driving in 5 runs, and scoring 8 times.
On the season, Floyd continues to pace the Mets’ offense, batting .328 with 8 home runs, 31 runs scored, and 17 RBIs.
Over in the Federal League, Todd Hundley of Cleveland turned in a jaw-dropping power display to claim Federal League Player of the Week honors. At age 27, the catcher hit .421 over five games, going 8-for-19 with an astonishing 7 home runs and 8 RBIs.
Thus far this season, Hundley is batting .245 with 14 home runs, 22 RBIs, and 21 runs scored in 26 games — proving that when he heats up, few hitters can match his impact.
Two leagues, two thunderous weeks — and two bats making serious noise as the season rolls on.
