Federal League Batter of the Month – Frank Thomas (Minnesota Twins)
At age 27, Frank Thomas delivered a sensational April, punishing pitchers with his trademark patience and power. In 27 games, Thomas hit .382 with 11 home runs, 24 RBIs, and 25 runs scored, proving once again why he is one of the most feared hitters in the DBL.
United League Batter of the Month – Todd Hundley (Montreal Expos)
Catcher Todd Hundley led Montreal’s offensive surge in April, earning the UL honor with 31 hits in 98 at-bats (.316 average). He displayed elite power, blasting 14 home runs, driving in 35 runs, and scoring 23 times, anchoring the Expos’ lineup throughout the month.
Federal League Pitcher of the Month – Kevin Brown (Kansas City Royals)
Veteran ace Kevin Brown was untouchable in April, compiling a 6-0 record across 6 starts with a 1.14 ERA. Over 47.1 innings pitched, he struck out 55 batters, proving himself the dominant force atop Kansas City’s rotation.
United League Pitcher of the Month – Pedro Martínez (Montreal Expos)
At just 24 years old, Pedro Martínez put together a month for the ages. The Montreal right-hander went 5-0 with a dazzling 0.72 ERA, striking out 81 batters in 50.1 innings while holding opponents to a .143 average. His dominance firmly established him as one of the league’s brightest young arms.
Federal League Rookie of the Month – Jason Giambi (Chicago White Sox)
Rookie first baseman Jason Giambi made an immediate impact in Chicago, hitting .316 with 8 doubles and 10 home runs in April. He also scored 23 runs and drove in 23 RBIs, marking himself as one of the most promising young hitters in the Federal League.
United League Rookie of the Month – Scott Karl (Arizona Diamondbacks)
Left-handed starter Scott Karl, just 24, impressed in his first month by going 4-1 with a 3.23 ERA over 39 innings pitched. He struck out 28 hitters while showing poise beyond his years, earning the UL Rookie of the Month honor.
