The Doubleday Baseball League, in coordination with the San Francisco Giants organization, announces a major franchise relocation set to take place ahead of the upcoming 1996 season.
After careful consideration and strategic planning, the San Francisco Giants will be relocating to Phoenix, Arizona, where they will be rebranded as the Arizona Diamondbacks. This move represents a new era for the franchise and brings Doubleday Baseball League to one of the fastest-growing markets in the country.
“We’re incredibly excited about this next chapter,” said a spokesperson for the organization. “Phoenix offers a dynamic and enthusiastic fan base, and we’re committed to building a strong, competitive team that will represent Arizona with pride.”

The transition will be completed prior to the start of the 1996 season, with all team branding, records, and operations transferring under the new Arizona Diamondbacks identity.
The DBL welcomes Phoenix as its newest home and looks forward to seeing the Diamondbacks take the field this spring.
