The Doubleday Baseball League proudly recognizes Lou Whitaker of the Detroit Tigers, who on May 7, 1996, recorded the 1,000th run batted in of his career, joining one of baseball’s most exclusive clubs.

Whitaker, now in his 20th DBL season, has been a steady and reliable contributor since breaking into the league as a 20-year-old with Milwaukee in 1977. Over the years, the versatile second baseman has showcased a blend of discipline, power, and leadership that has made him a fixture in lineups across both leagues.
