Big Day with Bat: Valentin 5-for-5
The 5th time was not the charm for John Valentin today.

The second baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals hit the milestone today at Arlington Stadium, but it was the Texas Rangers that salvaged a 5-3 victory. Valentin finished with a 5-for-5 line at the plate, and it still wasn't enough.

"He was not an easy out, that's for sure," Texas manager Sean Norman said to the press in the postgame interview. "I'm just glad we held everybody else in check and got the win."

Valentin declined to speak to reporters at length following the game, saying only that "no loss is a good one."

John Valentin singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.\n

Thus far this season Valentin has hit .270 with 18 home runs, 58 RBIs and scored 54 times.
