Tigers Turn Back Colorado, 4-2
|
The Detroit Tigers picked up a win at Tiger Stadium, knocking off the Colorado Rockies, 4-2. Starting pitcher Ramon J. Martinez was an essential part of his team's success. In 8 innings, Martinez surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Mike Perez converted his 11th save in 18 tries.
Dave Hollins aided the Detroit cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the designated hitter was 1-2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Martinez said.
