Cardinals Come Back Late to Top Cubs
|
St. Louis Cardinals starter Bill C. Swift was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Chicago Cubs, 4-2. St. Louis reliever Dan Plesac was the winner. His record is now 6-5. Teddy Higuera took the loss. St. Louis has now won 3 in a row.
The contest featured some late-game dramatics from St. Louis first baseman Ivan Calderon. In the top of the ninth inning, with one out and a runner on 2nd, Calderon hit a single to help St. Louis seize the win.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Swift.
