Red Sox Bridle Devil Rays, 3-2
|
Boston Red Sox starter Pete Harnisch turned in an exceptional performance against the Orlando Devil Rays at Orlando Citrus Bowl, resulting in a Boston win, 3-2. Harnisch, now 2-1, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. Picking up the save was Roberto Hernandez, his 2nd.
Boston used the timely hitting of Todd Hollandsworth to capture the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Red Sox on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Hollandsworth, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
With the win, Boston boosts its record to 5-7.
