Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Cardinals
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Cincinnati Reds, Bill C. Swift was the difference-maker. The St. Louis right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 win. The Cardinals bumped their record to 66-54 with this latest triumph.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Gerald Young came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Cincinnati pitcher Todd Worrell, he hit a 2-2 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting St. Louis on top, 3-2.
"It's great when the crowd gets into it," Swift said.
