Chicago and Cincinnati duked it out at Wrigley Field and the Cubs came out victorious.

Chicago left-hander Mike Hampton made an effective start against the Cincinnati Reds at Wrigley Field, leading his team to a 9-6 win. The winning pitcher was Hampton, now 14-6. He tossed 5 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Mike Stanton, credited with the save, is now 23 for 26 in save opportunities.
