Red Wings Lose, 7-2, at Aspinwall Grounds
|
The Buffalo Bisons satisfied the home crowd at Aspinwall Grounds, treating them to a season-opening win, 7-2, over the Rochester Red Wings. Starting Pitcher Brad Radke was named player of the game for Buffalo. Radke picked up the win for Buffalo, going 8 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 10 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. Tim Fortugno closed the game out for Buffalo, earning his 1st save.
Kevin Young had a big 2-run double for the Bisons in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Buffalo leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a curveball from Chris Gardner and stroked the double to center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bisons ahead, 3-0.
"The first start is always the hardest," said Radke. "The biggest thing is just getting through it."
