Rochester pitcher Jose Mercedes did his part in helping his team beat the Buffalo Bisons, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Chuck Crim earned the save, his 1st. Rochester goes to 2-1 with the win.
Rochester used a timely hit from Damon Mashore to get the win. The right fielder delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the first inning to put the Red Wings on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Mashore said.
