Red Wings Double Up Southeast, 6-3
|
A 4-RBI performance from the 25-year old first baseman Matt Franco helped the Rochester Red Wings beat the Southeast Slammers, 6-3. Rochester reliever Terrell Wade was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Scott Scudder took the loss. Earning his 1st save of the year was Jim Pena.
Franco had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 0-1 curveball from Scott Scudder, he banged a grand slam home run to right, giving the Red Wings a 6-3 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Franco.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Franco told the Rochester Times. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
The Red Wings, now 4-24, know that wins in April count the same as wins in September.
