Bisons Come Up Short at Bluff City
|
The Buffalo Bisons got a superb performance from first baseman Kevin Young. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Bluff City. The Beasties won the game, 6-5. In spite of the loss, Young was named the player of the game. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Reliever John LeRoy picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. John H. Doherty took the loss. Kevin Wickander closed it out for his 2nd save.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and two out in the bottom of the fourth inning. That's when center fielder Pat Watkins hit a 3-run home run. The Beasties went on to win.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Watkins, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
Bluff City occupies third place in the Atlantic Southeast at 30-26.
