Milligan goes 3-for-4, Whalers Move to 45-20
|
The Hartford Whalers beat the Rochester Red Wings, 11-4, at Ballpark of Ft. Lauderdale. The Whalers got a fine performance from designated hitter Randy Milligan, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Jack Armstrong went 7 innings for Hartford to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 4 earned runs. He scattered 4 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 7. His record improves to 6-3. The second-place Whalers have won 4 consecutive games.
It could have been a different outcome for Hartford, had it not been for John Wehner, the 27-year old third baseman . Wehner contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put Hartford up, 4-2.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Hartford manager .
