Cyclones Trip Red Wings, 6-5
|
The inspired effort of Rochester center fielder Johnny Damon was not enough to prevent a 6-5 loss to the Brooklyn Cyclones. Damon was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs. Jim Mecir was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 12 of 15 save opportunities. The Red Wings, at 7-60, have lost 5 in a row.
Casey Candaele had a productive at-bat for the Cyclones with no one out in the bottom of the fourth. With the bases loaded, the second baseman drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The at-bat was important in the Brooklyn win.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Candaele said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
