Victory Pushes Whalers Record to 65-29
|
Hartford Whalers starter Bryan Rekar turned in a top-notch performance against the Columbus Clippers at Wolves Ballpark. The result was a win for the Whalers, 5-2. Rekar, now 14-2, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. Billy Wagner was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 27 of 28 save opportunities.
Wil Cordero, the Hartford second baseman, contributed a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third inning to make the score 3-1, Whalers. For the game, Cordero was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
