Red Wings Stymie Southeast, Take 4-1 Win
|
Rochester turned a good effort from starter Chris Gardner into a win over the Southeast Slammers at Ballpark of Ft. Lauderdale. The final score was 4-1. In 6 innings, Gardner surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Even with the win, the Red Wings have a dismal 11-82 record.
Matt Franco dealt the Slammers a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with a runner on 1st and Rochester leading 1-0, Franco, who is rated as the 64th best prospect by BNN, hit a 2-2 fastball for a run-scoring double.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Southeast skipper , "and it cost us."
