Spirited fans at Wolves Ballpark greeted the Hartford Whalers for their clash with the Rochester Red Wings.

The Hartford Whalers got a superb performance from pitcher Jack Armstrong, but the Rochester Red Wings still won the game, 6-2. Armstrong was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. Russ Springer notched his 2nd save in 2 chances.

The Red Wings scored in the top of the first when Johnny Damon hit a run-scoring single to make the score 1-0, Rochester.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Damon told a Rochester Times reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."

Even with the win, the Red Wings have a dismal 13-83 record.
