The inspired effort of Columbus left fielder Quinton McCracken was not enough to prevent a 4-3 loss to the Buffalo Bisons. McCracken went 4-4 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times. Brian Shouse was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 12 of 14 save opportunities. Columbus, at 44-52, has lost 5 straight.

Buffalo used the timely hitting of Gregg Zaun to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Bisons on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Columbus manager . "The effort was great."
