Victory Over Red Wings Takes Hartford to 69-29
|
Hartford Whalers starter Robert Person turned in a top-notch performance against the Rochester Red Wings at Wolves Ballpark. The result was a win for the Whalers, 4-1. Hartford reliever Brad Cornett was the winner. His record is now 4-2. The losing pitcher was Chuck Crim. Mark Petkovsek was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 5 of 5 save opportunities.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. That's when right fielder Alex Ochoa, who leads the ATL in extra base hits with 54, hit a single. The Whalers went on to win.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Hartford manager . "Our pregame was pretty good."
Hartford is now 69-29, 12 games up in the Atlantic Northeast.
