Red Wings Win at Buffalo, 5-2
|
The Rochester Red Wings defeated the Buffalo Bisons, 5-2. Earning player of the game honors was center fielder Johnny Damon, who was 3 for 5 with a triple and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Lee Hancock got credit for the win, improving to 3-5. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. Rochester, at 14-90, occupies last place in the Atlantic Northeast.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the top of the sixth inning. That's when left fielder Quinn Mack, who is tied for 9th in the ATL in doubles with 26, hit a double. The Red Wings went on to win.
"Wish we'd had more wins to celebrate like this one," said Damon.
