Swamp Foxes Topple Cyclones with Late Rally
The Swamp Foxes faced a stiff challenge from Brooklyn pitcher Rick Aguilera, but persevered to claim a win at Ballpark of Fremont. The final score was 4-2. Aguilera went 8 innings and allowed no earned runs. Savannah reliever Johnny Ruffin picked up the win to move to 4-2. Jim Mecir suffered the loss. Jay Powell was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 6 of 10 save opportunities.

Ken R. Williams's at-bat in the top of the ninth was significant, coming with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the game tied, 2-2. The Savannah center fielder hit a run-scoring single off Jim Mecir to put the Swamp Foxes up.

"It was a good effort all around," said Williams.

Savannah goes to 69-36. The win puts them 3 games up in their division.
