|
The Brooklyn Cyclones got a sterling performance from designated hitter Mike Marshall, but the Suns still prevailed, 6-4. Marshall was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He was 3-3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Reliever Paul Quantrill picked up the win. His record improves to 3-0. Jim Mecir took the loss. Brooklyn, at 40-68, has lost 7 straight.
Jacksonville took a 6-4 lead on Jeff Manto's 26th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Brooklyn pitcher Jim Mecir in the bottom of the ninth.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Manto said in his postgame press conference.
