Red Wings Prevail, 5-4, Over Jacksonville
|
Jacksonville right fielder Ozzie Timmons was sensational. He went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Rochester beat the Suns, 5-4. Timmons was named the player of the game despite the loss. Rochester reliever Matt Grott was the winner. His record is now 1-3. The losing pitcher was Eric Nolte. Even with the win, the Red Wings have a dismal 15-95 record.
Rochester used the timely hitting of Randel Young to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Red Wings on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Young. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
