Hines Sensational, 5-for-6
|
Some moments become linked with a particular player's career forever. Derek Hines of the Rochester Red Wings had one of those moments when he went 5-for-6 at the plate today in the 26-5 win over the Brooklyn Cyclones at Ballpark of Fremont.
"I won't forget this anytime soon, and I don't expect it to happen too often," the 22-year-old first baseman told reporters in the postgame interview. "I'll be happy to just get a hit or two every day. Enough to hang around the league a while longer. Like 10, maybe 15 more years."
Derek Hines singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th, walked in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
This year Hines has collected a .303 batting average to date with 107 hits in 353 at-bats, 43 RBIs, 3 home runs and scored 43 times. He has played in 93 games.
