Moonshiners Bridle Cyclones, 4-3
|
Asheville Moonshiners starter Pete Schourek pitched effectively against the Brooklyn Cyclones at Ballpark of Fremont. The left-hander spearheaded his team's 4-3 win. Schourek, now 18-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing no earned runs. The Moonshiners own a robust 75-44 mark.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Moonshiners had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the eighth, when center fielder Rikkert Faneyte hit a run-scoring triple. The triple came off Steve Reed and made the score 4-1, Moonshiners. Faneyte went 2-4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs.
"This was a good win," said Schourek.
