Marrero Helps Asheville Cruise to 12-2 Win
The Asheville Moonshiners stopped the Rochester Red Wings, 12-2, behind an impressive performance from Oreste Marrero. The 25-year old first baseman made life miserable for Rochester pitching. He was 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 5. Marvin Freeman went 8.2 innings for Asheville to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 2 earned runs. He scattered 3 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. His record improves to 16-5. The first-place Moonshiners now have a win-loss record of 77-44.

Marrero had a key at-bat for Asheville early in the game. With the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run single. It was his 174th hit of the season and gave Asheville an early 3-1 lead.
