Stag Drop Lazy Fisherman with Late Score
|
The Naperville Lazy Fisherman got a superb performance from pitcher Robert Person. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Portland. The Stag won the game, 3-2. In spite of the loss, Person was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. Carlos Castillo got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. Kerry Ligtenberg earned the save for Portland, his 2nd of the year.
Portland needed the clutch hitting of Mike Macfarlane to notch the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Stag on top, 3-2. For the game, Macfarlane had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Both teams played hard," said Portland manager .
With the loss, Naperville sinks to 2-2.
