Stag Score Late to Upend Brass, 6-5
|
The Portland Stag turned back the New Orleans Brass, 6-5, at Bay Hawks Ballpark. Fernando Tatis was named player of the game for his fine performance. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Portland reliever Carlos Castillo picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Luis Aquino took the loss. With the win, Portland pushes its record to 5-5.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Wes Chamberlain came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing New Orleans pitcher Luis Aquino, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Portland on top, 6-5.
"We found a way to get it done," Tatis said.
