Johnson Stars for Stag in 11-6 Win
|
The Portland Stag trumped the Omaha Storm Chasers, 11-6, at Tuttle Fields. Portland designated hitter Mark P Johnson was named player of the game for his performance. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 5. Chuck Ricci closed the door for Portland, picking up his 3rd save of the year. Losses have been few and far between for the Storm Chasers, who are now 11-2.
Johnson had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 2-2 slider from John E. Farrell, he banged a 2-run home run to right-center, giving the Stag a 7-6 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Johnson.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Johnson told the Portland Citizen.
