Portland Wins, Chamberlain 4-5

The Portland Stag knocked off the San Antonio Missions, 7-5, at Texans Stadium. Wes Chamberlain, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Portland won. The left fielder went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. The Missions, now 5-11, continue their poor start.
The Stag got a clutch hit from Mark P Johnson with one out in the top of the seventh inning. Johnson jumped on a 1-1 fastball from Marty Bystrom and hit a single, staking his club to a 3-2 lead.
"I felt good up there," said Johnson. "I saw the ball well."
