Johnson Helps Buzz Run Win Streak to 3
|
The Salt Lake City Buzz stopped the Portland Stag, 7-3, behind an impressive performance from Brian Johnson. The 29-year old catcher made life miserable for Portland pitching. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Steve Parris got credit for the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits in 7 innings. Paul Spoljaric finished to wrap up his 6th save.
Johnson contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Salt Lake City in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 1-0, Johnson took a slider from Dave Burba and stroked the home run to left-center. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Buzz to leap in front, 3-1.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Johnson told the Salt Lake City Observer.
At 12-6, the Buzz have played well so far.
