The Portland Stag buried the Colorado Springs Sky Fox, 12-1, under a barrage of hits. Carmelo Martinez led the onslaught, going 2-for-5 for Portland. Dave Burba earned the win to go to 2-0. He allowed 1 earned run on 4 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts. The Sky Fox, now 6-15, continue their poor start.
Martinez came through with some timely hitting for Portland. With the score 1-0 in the bottom of the first and two down, Martinez hit a full count fastball for a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season made it 3-0, Portland.
Colorado Springs manager said his team was "out of sync."
