Storm Chasers Win at Portland, 7-3
|
Roberto Mejia left his imprint on the 7-3 Omaha win against the Portland Stag. Mejia, who is tied for 10th in the PAC in triples with 1, went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Pete J. Smith went 6 innings for Omaha to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 2 earned runs. He scattered 8 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 5. His record improves to 2-3. Omaha, now 7-16, is off to a slow start.
It could have been a different outcome for Omaha, had it not been for Hensley Meulens, the 29-year old third baseman . Meulens contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Omaha up, 3-2.
Mejia called the win "a collective effort."
