Carmelo Martinez made an impact in the 9-5 Portland win over Salt Lake City. Martinez, who is tied for 9th in the PAC in home runs with 4, was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Salt Lake City, at 0-24, is off to a dreadful start in 1995.

The Stag beat the Buzz with some clutch hitting. The double by Alex Arias in the top of the second is a good example. With two down, Arias gave his team the lead, 3-2, when he came through with the big hit.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Martinez.
