Stag Win at San Antonio , 4-0
|
Portland pitcher Dave Burba did his part in helping his team beat the San Antonio Missions, 4-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Burba went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 9 hits, walked 3, and struck out 8. His record improves to 3-0. Portland is now riding a 4-game win streak.
Portland used the bat of Milt Thompson to get the win. The center fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Stag ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.
In postgame comments to the Portland Citizen, Thompson said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
