The Portland Stag picked up a win at Motors Ballpark, knocking off the Colorado Springs Sky Fox, 3-2. Starting pitcher Dave Burba, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Burba, now 3-2. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 5. This win makes it 6 in a row for Portland.
The Stag got an important contribution from left fielder Wes Chamberlain, who in the top of the third stroked a 0-1 fastball into center for a run-scoring single. It was his 36th hit of the season and put the Stag ahead, 3-1.
"Against this team here, fangs out late in the game, it's nice to beat them," said Portland skipper .
