Rainiers Stun Storm Chasers, 6-4
|
The Tacoma Rainiers beat the Omaha Storm Chasers, 6-4, at Maples Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of right fielder Steve Hosey, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The win was credited to Bill Sampen in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Bill Wegman took the loss. Tacoma is now 19-11, 2 games up in the Pacific West.
Hosey came through with some timely hitting for Tacoma. With the score 4-4 in the top of the ninth and one down, Hosey hit a first pitch fastball for a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season made it 6-4, Tacoma.
"It was a solid team effort," said Hosey after the game.
